What is agrivoltaics and how does it work?

Agrivoltaics is a cutting-edge synergy between agriculture and renewable energy. This technology involves integrating photovoltaic panels into agricultural land, optimizing climate management and promoting sustainable production. Panels’ installation ensures they do not interfere with farming activities, allowing machinery to operate seamlessly beneath the structures on which they are placed.

By balancing sunlight and shade, agrivoltaic systems enhance microclimatic conditions, reducing water and heat stress on crops. The energy generated can either be used to support agricultural activities or fed into the power grid.

At Europrogress, we have always strived to offer innovative solutions fostering our Planet health. As a consequence, we have decided to design a greenhouse model that could harness the power of agrivoltaics: Multisunart.

Multisunart: photovoltaic greenhouses for renewable energy

Multisunart is a greenhouse specifically designed by Europrogress for agrivoltaic systems. This project promotes renewable energy and green production while respecting our Planet’s well-being. The structure comes in two configurations: single and double-slope. The second type can be either symmetrical or asymmetrical. The choice between these versions depends on the space allocated for photovoltaic panels.

In the Multisunart multi-span single-slope greenhouse, the area designated for panels exceeds the covered space. The structure is characterized by a standard gutter height of 2–2.5 meters, but it can be increased to 6 meters for higher energy efficiency. Slope inclination is another feature that can directly impact panels’ performance. These models are also equipped with lateral openings and roll bars, added for optimal airflow.

The double-slope Multisunart greenhouse features photovoltaic panels mounted on adjustable aluminum profiles to suit panels’ size. Its ventilation system includes windows on the roof and along the perimeter for efficient air circulation.
